Why Is Soup Lomi Special So Famous?
There are several explanations behind the fame of lomi in Filipino cooking. The first is that it’s comforting; next is that it tastes good, and lastly is the way the various ingredients are combined.
It has the ideal balance of flavors thanks to the addition of noodles, pork, eggs, and veggies. Let’s investigate what makes it so delicious.
Comfort Food: It’s my go-to comfort food, and I know that many other people feel the same way. My family is now a fan of this soup as well. We cook this soup at home whether someone is sick, depressed, or the weather is wet, and it always cheers us up.
Combination of Ingredients: Lomi Special is produced with a combination of ingredients, unlike many other soups that are made with just a few. It contains all of the following: noodles, meat, veggies, and eggs. Together, they form a well-rounded supper.
Soup Taste: You’ll never forget the flavor of this food, in addition to its comforting and balancing qualities. You might request more than one bowl because it is so delicious.
Let’s Make The Famous Lomi at Home
Here’s how I made Lomi soup at home and always get amazing results. You can follow the same steps and make restaurant-style Lomi soup easily.
Key-Ingredients:
- Round egg noodles (Pansit Miki) 200 grams
- Chicken 200 grams
- Shrimp 100 grams
- Squid balls
- Chicken liver 50 grams
- Carrot 1 small
- Cabbage 1/4
- Red bell pepper
- Celery chopped
- Spring onion chopped
- One onion chopped
- Garlic 3 cloves
- 5-6 cups chicken broth
- Oyster sauce 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce 2 tbsp
- Knorr seasoning 2 tbsp
- Vinegar 1 tbsp
- 3 eggs
- Chicharon (pork rinds)
Cooking Instructions
Get the meat and veggies ready:
- First things first, chop the vegetables. Mince the onion and garlic first, then slice the red bell pepper, carrots, celery, spring onions, and cabbage.
- When the vegetables are all chopped, it’s time to cut the meat. Cut the liver, remove the vein from the shrimp, and arrange the chicken pieces on the cutting board.
- It’s ready to cook if you take a bowl, add the chicharron, and pound it with a pestle.
Prepared Ingredients:
- Add noodles to a pot of boiling water, then cook. After cooking, put them away to use at a later time.
- Put the oil in a skillet, add the onion and garlic, and sauté them until golden brown. After they turn golden brown, add the chicken, give them a good toss, and season with salt.
- Add the shrimp, liver, and squid balls once the chicken turns white instead of pink. For a few minutes, give them another thorough stir, and then add the black pepper.
- After adding oyster sauce, Knorr seasoning, soy sauce, vinegar, and chicken stock to the pan, cover it with a lid and let it sit for a few minutes.
- Remove the lid and add the noodles, cabbage, and carrots after a few minutes. Give them another two minutes of cooking while stirring.
- Add a liquid mixture to the pan by mixing two tablespoons of cornstarch with half a cup of water. Remember that after adding the cornstarch, you must mix often to prevent lumps.
- Finally, toss in the celery and bell pepper. Slowly whisk the beaten eggs into the soup to form ribbons of egg. Give it another minute to simmer while stirring.
